How to Play Roulette
Roulette offers the best odds in any casino game and is the most enjoyable. It is also the most expensive but by far the most profitable.
Roulette consists of many bets to choose from all paying different odds depending on how many numbers are bet.
The object of Roulette is to pick the number, color, odd or even number, or combination of numbers that appear on the roulette wheel. It seems easy, doesn't it! Well it's not!
There are two variations of the roulette game the European and American versions. The European wheel has 37 slots numbered 0-36. The house edge is 2.63. The American wheel has 38 numbers because the added a double zero (00). The addition of the extra number increases the house edge to 5.26 percent. The Roulette table layout has two betting areas. The inside betting area contains the individual numbers on the layout. The numbers on the inside are arranged in 12 rows of three numbers making forming three vertical columns. The 0 and 00 are at the top of the columns. The outside betting area has boxes for the columns, red/black and odd/even and different groups of numbers.
To play roulette you must buy in or purchase special roulette chip from the table you are going to play at. These special chips are color coded for that particular table. To avoid disputes between players each player receives a different color chip. These chips are good for that table only and you must cash them in when you get done playing. You will them be given regular casino chips to take to the cage. You cannot cash in the roulette table chips at the cage.
When you play roulette each table has a minimum and maximum bet and will be posted on the table. Also there are minimum bets for inside and outside bets and you can't combine these two bets for the minimum bet.
The dealer is required to keep the wheel moving at all times, even between spins. The dealer spins the ball in the opposite direction from the spinning wheel. This causes the ball to be totally random in where it falls because the ball will jump and spin before it lands on a number. Once the ball lands on a number the dealer will place a marker on the winning number on the table. You are not allowed to place your bet on the next spin until the dealer removes the marker.
The European version of roulette has 37 numbers, 1 to 36 and zero around a wheel. There are 18 black and 18 red numbers that are placed after each other. Numbers are not in order but placed randomly, obviously there are 18 even and 18 odd numbers also placed one after each other around the wheel (i.e. red odd, black even, red odd, black even). There never is the same colour placed next to each other and neither is an odd or even on the wheel.

The Roulette Zero
This number still has payout odds of 35 to 1 but is on the wheel to favour the casino. As there are 36 numbers the player could buy in for 36 chips and place one on every number, doing this the player would win all their money back and start off with the same amount every time they bet because the odd are 35-1 plus your bet back. The online casino has the zero to stop this because the extra number isn’t counted in the odds. Zero is still a good bet all the same and with the same odds. In American Roulette, the double zero applies, which favours the online casino even further.
Table Maximums in Roulette
Table Maximums in Roulette do apply to favour the casino. If maximums were not in place then the player could just double their bet until they win all their money back, which defeats the object of having a casino really. Online casinos have different maximums for different gamblers. Usually £1 minimum up to £100 maximum. High rollers £5 minimum up to £500 maximum depending on which bet you choose.
The player can place as many chips as they like on the Roulette bets stated above as long as they are inside the maximums, they can also place multiple bets around the layout, even combining certain numbers. For example, £5 on number 29 (straight up) £5 on number 28 (straight up) and £5 on 28/29 split. If either 28 or 29 came in the player would win 52 £5 chips, which converts to £260 plus your money back. Not a bad bet for £15!
Roulette is a fun game to play and if you hit your number can be very rewarding. Have fun and win big!
